We also have a number of other social activities which take place throughout the year, including 'Boys' Night Out' and 'Girls' Night Out' and various other activities.

Uniformed Organisations

The following uniformed organisations have links to St John's Church:

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts

The Scout Association offers everyday adventure and activity to almost 400,000 young people across the UK. St. John’s Church is fortunate enough to sponsor and have a strong connection with 15th Chelmsford (St. John’s) Scout Group. The group has Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

The young people enjoy a wide range of activities, including swimming, crafts, cooking and lots of camping. The group is open to all young people – boys and girls, aged 6-14 years of age.  There are also plenty of opportunities for adults to become involved as Leaders, Assistants or Administrators.

Rainbows, Brownies and Guides

The Guide Association operates as "Girlguiding" and gives girls and young women opportunities to try new things and grow in confidence in a "girl only" space. There are units across Chelmsford offering fun and friendship to:

5-7 year olds
7-10 year olds
10-14 year olds

Senior Section

Girls joining local units take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, games and crafts and have an opportunity to relax and develop skills away from school work, TV and the internet.

Adults are also welcome to join as volunteers or members of The Trefoil Guild.

Most Rainbow and Brownie units have waiting lists and it is advisable to register girls several years in advance.
