Pastoral Community / Mission and Ministry Unit

Over the course of 2011, Chelmsford South Deanery oversaw the creation of four new "pastoral communities". These are groups of parishes supporting one another and sharing gifts, and these new communities were officially launched at the Deanery Synod in early June.

As part of this vision, St John's joined with St Michael's Galleywood and St Luke's Moulsham Lodge to form a Pastoral Community. Soon after this, the Pastoral Community expanded to include Widford Parish .

In November 2016, our South West Chelmsford Churches Pastoral Community became a Mission and Ministry Unit (MMU), the first MMU in the Bradwell Area. The MMU was then formally commissioned by the Bishop of Bradwell on 6th May 2017.
